| When to Come to Granada |
|
Summer is normally VERY hot, on occasions with thermometers reaching 50 degrees! Mind you, this does have its benefits. Firstly the city is very quiet, as many of the locals take their holidays and escape to the coast of Granada, plus the colleges close and the students return to their home towns. Because of this, some small bars and shops are may be closed too. Many people from countries such as the United Kingdom will never have experienced heat like this, and so we can recommend two or three days here, especially if you have booked somewhere on the Granada Coast, as it’s only a short journey (30 minutes), or on other parts of the Mediterranean coast such as Málaga or Almería. The recommendations are though that you do your visits early in the morning, that you take siesta in the afternoon as the Spanish do, and that you drink LOTS of water. Be prepared to eat late as well, as temperatures can be very high still at around 8pm. Winter in Granada is quite cold and changeable conditions because of the proximity of the mountains and the coastline, but temperatures rarely go below 0º and we don't have much rain. Those few days of snow are nowadays a great event that everyone enjoys! |
