Granada & Málaga
"The Alhambra, the Albaicin and the Sierra Nevada mountains"
Who hasn´t heard of the Alhambra, recently voted for as one of the new 7 Wonders of the World? This monument is so famous that it often eclipses all the other interesting things there are to do and see in Granada. It is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains where there is skiing in the winter, with views of the Mediterranean beaches at the same time, plus in summer this turns into hiking and mountain-bike country. The Alpujarras on the side of the mountain include ancient villages and Cortijos, still watered by the irrigation systems built by the Moors around a thousand years ago. And in the city itself, don´t miss the Albaicin quarter with its narrow lanes and spectacular views of the Alhambra.
Málaga is a Mediterranean jewel, largely undiscovered by the modern tourist. With a cheeky, more light hearted character than Seville, Malaga captivates with its sense of fun and fresh sea air. Despite the tourist resorts along the ‘Costa del Sol’, Málaga has retained its old world charm and traditional Spanish feel. Here in one day you'll see evidence of Phonecian, Roman, Moorish and Christian historic cultures all side by side in the compact old town, plus of course the city is the birthplace of Picasso with the excellent museum dedicated to his work.
