Doñana National Park & Columbus

Doñana National Park is a beautiful un-spoilt bird sanctuary, on the edge of which is situated Palos, where Columbus set sail for the Americas.

With this day trip we have attempted to combine nature with history and tradition, and the result is spectacular. You will see part of the nature reserve where a huge range of exotic species of birds and animals live, all in the marshlands around the mouth of the Guadalquivir river. Afterwards we go to El Rocio, one of the most important pilgrimages in Spain where we will tell you about the tradition of the Romeria. We then continue to Palos de la Frontera, the place from where Columbus actually set sail for his epic voyage of discovery. You will see life-size replicas of the ships they used, hard to believe that anyone could have crossed the Atlantic that way and survived.
